Who can use CourtSide

Your account

Give accurate details when you sign up. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Each account is for one person: do not share yours or use someone else’s. If you think someone else got into your account, change your password and use “Log out of all devices” in Account center.

What you post

You own what you post. By posting it, you give CourtSide permission to store it, copy it, show it to other people in the app, and adjust how it displays (for example, making a thumbnail or playing a trimmed clip), only so the app can work. This permission is free, and it ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people already have (for example, a message you sent them). Featuring a post outside the app is a separate permission, explained in the next section.

You promise you have the right to post what you post. Do not post other people’s footage or photos without their OK, or music and other content you do not own.

When CourtSide features your post

Most posts and clips you share with everyone have a switch on the post screen called “Let CourtSide feature this on its Instagram” (the rest are never featured; see below). It starts switched on, for every account. You can switch it off before you share the post, or any time after, on the post itself (Edit post).

While that switch is on for a post, you give CourtSide a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to show that post (the photo or clip, its caption and your @handle) on CourtSide’s own social media accounts, such as our Instagram, and in CourtSide’s own marketing for the app, such as our website. We may crop or trim it to fit, and we will credit your @handle. “Non-exclusive” means the post is still yours and you can share it anywhere else you like. “Royalty-free” means neither of us pays the other for it.

Rules

CourtSide has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Treat other players the way you would on court. Do not post, send or do any of these:

Respect for minors. Some people on CourtSide are teenagers. Adults must not seek private contact with teens they do not know, ask them for personal information or photos, or try to move a conversation with a teen to another app.

Our Community Guidelines explain each of these rules in plain words, and what happens when something is removed.

Reporting, blocking and what we can do

If something breaks these rules, report it: from the ••• menu on a post, instant, profile or question to a coach, from the flag at the top of a thread, from a chat’s details, or by pressing and holding a comment, reply or chat message. You can also block or mute anyone. We review every report within 24 hours, and we can remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk, with or without warning. If we believe someone may be in danger, or a child may be at risk, we may contact the authorities.

Other people’s content

Posts, messages and advice from other people belong to them and are their responsibility, not ours. We do not check everything before it appears.

Coaching and health information

Training, injury and nutrition content in CourtSide is general information, not medical advice. That includes answers from coaches, other players and the AI coach. It cannot diagnose or treat anything. If something hurts, stop and see a doctor or physio. You are responsible for training safely and within your limits.

Coaches on CourtSide are independent; they are not our employees, and their advice is their own. A coach badge means CourtSide added it to that account. The AI coach can be wrong. Use your own judgment.

Coaching on CourtSide is free right now: you can ask coaches questions in Ask a coach, read their pages and message them. Nothing in the app is for sale.

Paid lessons with coaches may come later. Before they start, we will update these terms with how paying, refunds and cancellations work, and tell you in the app first (see “Changes” below).

If you coach on CourtSide: when payouts open, payment processing services for coaches on CourtSide are provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service (together, the “Stripe Services Agreement”). By setting up payouts you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as Stripe may modify it from time to time. As a condition of CourtSide enabling payment processing through Stripe, you agree to give CourtSide accurate and complete information about you and your coaching, and you authorize CourtSide to share it and transaction information related to your use of Stripe’s payment processing. You set your own prices and you are responsible for your own taxes.

Other services

CourtSide uses outside services for things like Google and Apple sign-in, maps and weather. Their own terms apply when you use them.

Our side

We will keep the app running as well as we can, but it is provided “as is”. We cannot promise it will always work, be free of bugs, or never lose anything, so keep your own copies of anything important. We may change, pause or stop any part of CourtSide.

As far as the law allows, CourtSide is not responsible for indirect losses, for lost data, or for what other people post or do. If we are responsible for a problem, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months (right now, CourtSide is free) or US $50, whichever is more. Some places do not allow limits like these, so they may not apply to you.

Ending things

You can delete your account any time: Settings → Account center → Delete account. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If your account is closed, these terms stop applying to you, except the parts that by their nature should continue (such as “Our side”).

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. If you keep using CourtSide after that, you accept the new terms.
